And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me...And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”- Matt 28:18, 20b
We desire to have a faith that moves us to action. Serving challenges us to give of our resources, time, talents, and energies for the purpose of making the name of Jesus known as we share the Gospel.
In the Great Commission (see the verse above), Jesus starts and ends by reminding them that the power needed to serve comes directly from God. So in a sense, serving teaches us to live out our beliefs in God's power through grace. We also believe God has gifted each member with special gifts and abilities that are to be used to make an impact for the Kingdom of God.
How Can I Serve When I Have No Gifts?
Everyone has a gift. Can you hear? Great! You can serve as a listener in AWANA. Can you smile and shake a hand? We have a place for you greeting! The point is the greatest way for you to serve is to focus on what you can do, and make yourself available to do it. You will be surprised how God will grow you as you step out in obedience.
