Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matt 28:19
We desire to be a loving community. Gathering refers to corporate worship and also refers to the covenantal relationship believers have with each other and a local church because of the message of the Gospel.
What Happens When We Gather?
When we gather, we do various activities together such as praying, singing, studying God's word, fellowshipping (aka eating), but mostly seeking to bring glory to God.
In the Great Commission (see the verse above), Jesus charges His disciples to baptize; simply put, baptism is a public confession that implies the gathering of believers. Furthermore, this public confession also signifies one's desire to be unified with Christ and with other followers of Christ; that's why we value church membership.
